It just dawned on me that I never shared this absolutely dreamy session with the sweetest couple I worked with before my move back to Ventura, and now I’m kicking myself for not posting it sooner.
I got an inquiry from the husband for a fairly last-minute surprise maternity session for their upcoming visit to San Diego for his wife’s birthday. At the time, I was prepping for our move back to Ventura, bouncing between cities and planning to be in Ventura the weekend they’d be in town. He was so determined to work with me that he even looked into rerouting their trip just to do the photos in Ventura before continuing on to San Diego. Completely out of their way btw, as they were coming from Arizona.
I knew that would be tough on them, but their effort to make it happen was such an honor. There was no way I could say no. I ended up rearranging my schedule to stay in San Diego and photograph their session at Coronado Beach. And I am SO glad I did.
Eventually, he let his wife in on the surprise so they could go outfit shopping together, and they took me along virtually by sending texts with photos of what they were trying on. It was the best. I knew her white satin dress would catch the light in the most magical way, and his striped linen top paired so perfectly. And who doesn’t love the bare belly and casual look of jeans with a cute sports bra? They absolutely nailed their outfits.
The evening itself was something out of a dream. The sunset gave us that glowy golden light I love so much, we spotted dolphins jumping in the waves (a rare treat at this beach), and by blue hour, the moon was glowing bright above us. It truly felt like this session was meant to be.
