This gorgeous couple was visiting Santa Barbara for their babymoon and decided it would be the perfect time to take their maternity portraits. Mama-to-be chose this serene stretch of beach with its windswept grassy dunes because she loved the natural textures and peaceful backdrop - and I couldn’t agree more. It’s one of my favorite spots too! The soft beige tones of the dunes mixed with the muted blues of the sky created such a calming, earthy palette - truly a dream setting.

She picked two stunning dresses from JLuxe that complemented the scenery beautifully. The first was a creamy crochet gown that hugged her baby belly in the most flattering way and felt effortlessly boho. The texture of the knit paired so naturally with the wispy grass and sand beneath her feet. I can’t stress enough how much I love when clients wear crochet or knit fabrics at the beach. It just works. Her second look, a flowing white two piece knitted dress, showed off her perfect bare baby belly. She looked like a beach goddess posed on the dunes, her long hair catching the ocean breeze - I couldn’t get enough.

I know everyone hopes for that golden, glowy sunset light, and trust me, I do too! But if you’re familiar with the coast, you know it doesn’t always play by the rules. On this particular day, the sky gave us soft, dreamy clouds instead of sun, and honestly? I wouldn’t change a thing. The overcast glow brought out the soft pastels in the sky and let the landscape shine. This is why trusting me with your location and timing really matters - even without the sun, we created magic.
